We’re throwing a party at the Wylde Center in Decatur to celebrate the coming of spring and this new hiking guidebook! We’ll be serving snacks, beer, and lemonade. Wednesday, April 16, 2014, 7:30 pm: Charis Books & More Event
Jonah will be speaking at a Charis Circle Urban Sustainability and Wellness Event at Charis Books and More (1189 Euclid Ave. NE Atlanta, GA 30307). This informal book talk will be a good venue to talk more in depth with the author about his process of researching and writing the book and to ask questions about intown hiking. Saturday, April 19, 2014, 4:00 to 5:00 pm: REI Event
Jonah will be speaking and selling books at the Atlanta REI Store (1800 Northeast Expy NE, Atlanta, GA 30329, 404-633-6508). This presentation will include information about historic sites, waterfalls, kid-friendly hiking, trees, flora and fauna along Atlanta’s trails. To register, visit the REI Outdoor School website.
Thursday, May 1, 2014, 7:00 to 8:30 pm: Trees Atlanta Event
This program will introduce audiences to the many under-utilized and often unknown greenspaces, trails, and forests within the metro-Atlanta area. Jonah will talk about his process of writing this new hiking guidebook, including stories about his favorite trails, historic ruins, waterfalls, watersheds, flora and fauna within the city. Eli Dickerson, who was a collaborator on this project, will introduce Trees Atlanta’s Champion Tree Program and share his excitement about the large, old and unique trees to be found in these intown greenspaces. Sunday, June 22, 2014, 3:30 – 5:30 pm: Atlanta Audubon Society Meeting
Jonah will be speaking and signing books at the June Atlanta Audubon Society meeting at Manuel’s Tavern (602 North Highland Ave, Atlanta, 30307). The event will be open to the public and there will be opportunity to ask questions and purchase the book. The Atlanta Audubon Society assisted with including “Birds to Watch For” in the guidebook. Saturday, August 2, 2014, 3:00 – 5:00 pm: East Atlanta Library Reception
At this reception and book talk, hosted by the Friends of the East Atlanta Public Library, Jonah will speak and sign books, as well as have time to talk with individuals about Atlanta hiking. The event will be held at the East Atlanta Branch of the Atlanta-Fulton County Public Library (400 Flat Shoals Ave SE, Atlanta, GA 30316).
