This greenspace is near Chapter 1 in Hiking Intown Atlanta’s Hidden Forests.
Description: This neighborhood gem has been a Dekalb County park since Mary Armstrong (who used to live on the property) passed away and the county purchased the land. The hiking trails are surrounded by lush greenery in the summer and a small tributary of the North Fork of Peachtree Creek runs along the far north boundary of the park. Mary Scott Nature Park provides a very nice hike as well as a playground for kids.
What’s there: Gravel & soft surface hiking trails, picnic area, playground
History and historical markers: At the back of the park are two chimneys that are all that remains of Mary Armstrong’s old homesite.
