Description: Originally a mill town started by “carpet baggers” from Massachusetts, Whittier Mills is now a historic neighborhood with an adjacent park hidden in an industrial area of town. You can still see some of the mill buildings at the beginning of this hike, but the best part of the are the quiet trails along the Chattahoochee River. One of the newest up-and-coming parks in Atlanta, Whittier Mills provides easily-accessible hiking along the Chattahoochee as part of its web of trails, as well as an historic mill site.
